OSR Blog Rankings - March 2011

Here's an updated listing of 251 old schoolish roleplaying blogs ranked by follower. The follower numbers are from 1 April 2011. Remember: YOU CAN CLICK ON THE BLOG NAME TO GO THERE!

I should mention that I had to prune my list a bit because I reached the maximum number of blogs I can follow and many blogs have disappeared and/or gone inactive. If you feel I have been unfair or short-sighted in removing a specific blog from the list, please send me an email and I will put it back on.

My usual blogometric caveats apply: (1) This list only has blogger.com blogs because follower numbers are not publicly available for WordPress blogs. (2) Yes, I know some blogs are missing. If your blog is not on the list and you want to be included next time, please send me the link. (Sorry, I cannot go back and update this post when I receive your new link.) (3) Blogroll aggregator sites are not included.

I will post the March fastest growing blog rankings tomorrow.

  1. Oh, I am an idiot who cannot read! Sorry :-)

  2. Thanks again for doing this! May be time to redo the blogger level by followers...

  3. If you're feeling even crazier, here's a thing you could do--take a look at those blogger followers for the top 4-6 blogs and see what the percentage of overlap between the followers is.

That'd give you more of an idea of how big the OSR is, but also whether there are distinctive "wings".

  5. Wow...there's a Spanish blog that's #3? I really need to get my wife to translate my books for me...

  6. I like Zak's idea, but I am not sure how scrapeable the Blogger list is.

Also, would appreciate it if you would list my blog, although it will remain near the bottom. :)

I've thought quite a bit about doing a meme analysis like this before. It would take too much time and work, though. I'm not good enough at scripting and parsing to automate something like this, and there's no way I'd take the time to sit down and manually make a spreadhseet of 1000+ blog followers...!

  13. FYI The Purple Wurm has officiall gone inactive, so you can pull it from your list.

  14. Ello Cyclopeatron. I'm still here. Honest. I was only inactive for a month or so *ahem*. Could you stick me back on the list? Many thanks.

  16. Hi Cyclopeatron! My blog is small and in Brasilian portuguese, but is also OSR dedicated! I would be grateful if you could list it as well:

  17. "New Kid" on the block here

    http://gamersandgrognards.blogspot.com/

At the time of this writing 13 followers, more tremendous on hits, which seems odd.
